Stepping Stones Montessori School

Choosing A School

How do I know if Montessori is right for my family?

We are thrilled that you are researching Montessori education for your child! It is a time-tested method, over 100 years old, that supports and respects children on their life-long learning journey. We find that parents who agree with the following statements tend to be those who are most comfortable with a Montessori education:

  • Humans are born with everything they need to learn and they require a carefully-prepared environment to help nurture their development.

  • The most important time for learning is birth to 6 years old.

  • Children should be offered the chance to develop independence and autonomy.

  • Children learn best when they feel safe and when they are excited about what they are learning.

  • When children have a healthy sense of self-worth, self-mastery, and empowerment they are more easily able to learn new skills and information.

  • It’s okay for children to fail. (And be offered a safe environment to try again.)

  • Children need healthy limits to feel safe in their home and school environments.

  • Children build their brains through hands-on interaction with the world around them.

“Stepping Stones has been fantastic for our family. The way a Montessori education fosters curiosity and creates an enthusiasm for and love of learning is truly amazing. Kids are encouraged to be exactly who they are and to respect and celebrate the same in others.”

“Stepping Stones has made my son’s transition from staying home with me to attending child care as seamless as possible. The staff is very helpful and caring, they have been so patient as it has been a tough adjustment for him! From the front desk to his classroom, everyone goes above and beyond to make this a wonderful place for your children. I know he is learning new skills and getting more comfortable in his new environment due to the incredible dedication of everyone who works there. I have recommended Stepping Stones to friends and plan to continue to do so!"
